La Scherkonde, qui traverse Frohndorf/Orlishausen, provoquait de fréquentes inondations dans les deux villages de Frohndorf et d'Orlishausen. Ce n'est qu'avec la construction du réservoir à l'est d'Orlishausen à la fin des années 1960 que le problème a pu être éliminé. Orlishausen et Frohndorf ont toujours été caractérisés par l'agriculture. À partir de 1953, des GPL ont été fondés, qui ont cultivé un total de 860 hectares de terres. Dans la ferme laitière de Frohndorf/Orlishausen, qui a été créée à partir des GPL, environ 2 000 vaches laitières étaient élevées depuis 1979. Aujourd'hui, Agra GmbH et sa filiale Frohndorfer Landmilch GmbH y ont leur siège. À la limite sud d'Orlishausen, la zone industrielle "Gebind" de 17,2 hectares a été créée en 1992. Die durch Frohndorf/Orlishausen fließende Scherkonde brachte den beiden Dörfern Frohndorf und Orlishausen früher häufig Hochwasser. Erst mit dem Bau des Stausees östlich von Orlishausen Ende der 1960er-Jahre konnte das Problem beseitigt werden. Orlishausen und Frohndorf waren schon immer durch die Landwirtschaft geprägt. Ab 1953 wurden LPGs gegründet, die insgesamt 860 Hektar Land bewirtschafteten. In der Milchviehanlage Frohndorf/Orlishausen, die aus den LPGs entstanden war, wurden seit 1979 etwa 2.000 Milchkühe gehalten. Heute haben hier die Agra GmbH sowie das Tochterunternehmen Frohndorfer Landmilch GmbH ihren Sitz. Am Südrand von Orlishausen entstand 1992 das 17,2 Hektar große Gewerbegebiet "Gebind". Hier ist unter anderem die Firma EUT-Erdrich Umformtechnik ansässig. Das Unternehmen zählt mit zu den größten Arbeitgebern im Landkreis.
