Der Ortsname Haßleben hat nichts mit „negativen Emotionen“ zu tun und verweist auf den abgewandelten Namen eines Einwohners in grauer Vorzeit. Haßleben wurde bereits um das Jahr 780 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Kurios mutet es heutzutage schon an, wenn man bedenkt, dass die Gemeinde im Hochmittelalter eine Enklave der Grafschaft Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, d.h., von allen Seiten von fremden Gebieten umgeben war. Aber bereits zu viel früheren Zeiten war Haßleben besiedelt, wovon der in den 20er Jahren dieses Jahrhunderts gefundene Goldschatz aus dem Grab der „Fürstin von Haßleben“ zeugt. Erstaunlich war auch, wie relativ schnell sich die Gemeinde von den Leiden des 30-jährigen Krieges erholen konnte, als ganze 47 Einwohner übrig blieben. Etwas über 150 Jahre später gehörte Haßleben dann per Edikt von Napoleon I. zum Herzogtum Sachsen-Weimar und zählte damals schon 1150 Einwohner. Der im Jahre 1822 ausgebrochene Großbrand vernichtete einen Großteil des Dorfes. Diesem tragischen Ereignis ist es auch zuzuschreiben, dass beim Wiederaufbau die typischen breiten Straßen der „Neuen Anlage“ oder der „Neustadt“ entstanden.

Le nom de lieu Haßleben n'a rien à voir avec les "émotions négatives" et fait référence au nom modifié d'un habitant dans les temps anciens. Haßleben est mentionné pour la première fois dans un document aux alentours de l'année 780. Cela paraît curieux aujourd'hui quand on sait qu'au Haut Moyen Âge, la communauté était une enclave du comté de Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, c'est-à-dire qu'elle était entourée de tous côtés par des territoires étrangers. Mais Haßleben était déjà colonisée à une époque bien antérieure, comme en témoigne le trésor d'or trouvé dans la tombe de la "princesse de Haßleben" dans les années 1920. Il est également étonnant de constater à quel point la communauté s'est remise relativement vite des souffrances de la guerre de 30 ans, alors qu'il ne restait que 47 habitants. Un peu plus de 150 ans plus tard, Hassleben a appartenu au duché de Saxe-Weimar par un édit de Napoléon Ier et comptait déjà 1150 habitants à l'époque. Le grand incendie qui a éclaté en 1822 a détruit une grande partie du village. C'est également en raison de cet événement tragique que les larges rues typiques de la "Neue Anlage" ou "Neustadt" ont été créées pendant la reconstruction.

The place name Haßleben has nothing to do with "negative emotions" and refers to the modified name of an inhabitant in ancient times. Haßleben was first mentioned in a document around the year 780. It seems strange nowadays, when one considers that in the High Middle Ages the community was an enclave of the county of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, i.e. surrounded on all sides by foreign territories. However, Haßleben was already settled in much earlier times, as evidenced by the gold treasure found in the grave of the "Princess of Haßleben" in the 1920s. It was also astonishing how relatively quickly the community recovered from the sufferings of the 30-year war, when only 47 inhabitants remained. A little over 150 years later, Hassleben belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar by edict of Napoleon I and at that time already counted 1150 inhabitants. The great fire that broke out in 1822 destroyed a large part of the village. It is also due to this tragic event that the typical wide streets of the "Neue Anlage" or the "Neustadt" were created during the reconstruction.
