Die berühmte Buchenwald-Plastik von Fritz Cremer ist Teil der Mahnmalanlage Buchenwald, dem größten und bedeutendsten Denkmal zur Erinnerung eines Konzentrationslagers in Deutschland. Die in den Jahren 1954 bis 1958 entstandene Figurengruppe wurde 2002 bis 2005 restauriert. Die ausdrucksstarke Gruppe vereinigt elf überlebensgroße Bronzefiguren, welche Kampf und Opfer, Sieg und Schwur der Häftlinge symbolisieren. Hinter der Denkmalgruppe wächst massig der weit ins Land sichtbare 50 Meter hohe Glockenturm empor.

The famous Buchenwald sculpture by Fritz Cremer is part of the Buchenwald Memorial, the largest and most important memorial to a concentration camp in Germany. The group of figures, created between 1954 and 1958, was restored between 2002 and 2005. The expressive group unites eleven larger-than-life bronze figures, which symbolise the struggle and sacrifice, victory and oath of the prisoners. Behind the monument group, the 50-metre high bell tower, visible far into the country, rises up massively.
