Der im Jahr 1928 eingeweihte Neue Friedhof in Mühlhausen ist gartenkünstlerisch die bedeutendste Friedhofsanlage Thüringens. Sie ist er ein herausragendes Beispiel für Funktionalismus und expressionistische Architektursprache des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts. Auf 10,6 Hektar erstreckt sich ein geometrisches Netz aus Haupt- und Nebenwegen, die an ihren Schnittpunkten zu Schöpfbrunnen und in ihrem Zentrum zur Trauerhalle führen. Die historische Parkanlage steht seit 1995 unter Denkmalschutz.
Le Nouveau cimetière de Mulhouse, inauguré en 1928, est le plus important cimetière de Thuringe du point de vue de l'art des jardins. Il est un exemple remarquable de fonctionnalisme et de langage architectural expressionniste du début du 20ème siècle. Sur 10,6 hectares s'étend un réseau géométrique d'allées principales et secondaires qui, à leurs intersections, mènent à des fontaines de puisage et, en leur centre, à la salle funéraire. Le parc historique est classé monument historique depuis 1995.
The New Cemetery was opened in 1928 and is one of the most impressive rural cemeteries in respect to landscape design in Thuringia. With its functionalist design it comes to be seen as a prominent example of the expressionist style of early 20th century gardening architecture. Comprising a total area of about 100,000 square metres, the New Cemetery adheres to a strict geometrical design of main and secondary pathways, with draw-wells on the intersections, converging at the Funeral Hall at the centre of the cemetery. The historic site of the New Cemetery has been listed since 1995.
