Auf unserem Wanderweg können wir einen unteren Abschnitt des Thüringer Rotliegenden, die sogenannte Manebach - Formation, kennen lernen. Diese sind etwas Besonderes: Steinkohlenflöze mit ihren Würzelböden, graue Ton -, Schluff -und Sandsteine mit prächtigen Pflanzenresten, das sind Ablagerungen eines häufig über-schwemmten Flusstales mit Mooren, Altwässern und Fließrinnen vor ca. 296 Millionen Jahren. Reste von Baumfarnen, Riesenschachtelhalmen, Keilblattgewächsen, Cordaitenbäumen und Farnsamern, Funde eines Haifisch- und Saurieskelettes sind von hier in Museen, Institute und Sammlungen vieler Länder sowie als Abbildungen in Lehrbücher gelangt. Auf der damaligen Erdoberfläche lag unser Gebiet etwa 18° nördlicher Breite, also im Äquatorgürtel. Der ca. 6 km lange und teilweise anspruchsvolle Weg führt durch das langestreckte Straßendorf aber auch am Waldrand der Berghänge entlang. Der Geo - Weg ist ein Themenwanderweg mit 4 Wendepunkten.

On our hiking trail we can get to know a lower section of the Thuringian Rotliegend, the so-called Manebach formation. This is something special: coal seams with their root zones, gray clay, silt and sandstones with splendid plant residues; these are deposits of a frequently flooded river valley with moors, oxbows and flow channels from about 296 million years ago. Remains of tree ferns, giant horsetails, wedge-leaf plants, cordaites trees and ferns, finds of a shark and saurians skeletons have reached museums, institutes and collections of many countries as well as illustrations in textbooks. At that time, our area was located at about 18° northern latitude, i.e., in the equatorial belt. The approximately 6 km long and partly demanding route leads through the elongated street village but also along the forest edge of the mountain slopes. The Geo-Route is a themed hiking trail with 4 turning points.

Sur notre sentier de randonnée, nous pouvons découvrir un segment inférieur du Rotliegend de Thuringe, la soi-disant formation Manebach. Ce sont des éléments particuliers : des lits de charbon avec leurs sols racinaires, des argiles grises, des siltstones et grès avec d'impressionnants restes de plantes, sédiments d'une vallée fluviale souvent inondée comprenant des marais, des eaux mortes et des chenaux il y a environ 296 millions d'années. Des restes de fougères arborescentes, de grandes prêles, de plantes à feuilles en coin, d'arbres cordaites et de fougères à graines, ainsi que des découvertes de squelettes de requins et de sauriens, sont exposés dans des musées, instituts et collections de nombreux pays et figurent dans des manuels scolaires. À l'époque, notre région se situait à environ 18° de latitude nord, donc dans la zone équatoriale. Le chemin d'environ 6 km, partiellement exigeant, traverse le village linéaire mais aussi le bord forestier des pentes montagneuses. Le Geo-Weg est un sentier thématique avec 4 points de retournement.
