Die Betteleiche ist ein ganz besonderes Naturdenkmal und zugleich ein Symbol für die wechselvolle Geschichte des Hainich in der Mitte Deutschlands. Dieser Wanderweg führt vorbei an zahlreichen kulturhistorischen Highlights im Nationalpark, wie dem Ihlefelder Kreuz, der Eisernen Hand oder auch dem Ihlefeld. Im Frühling führt der Weg durch herrlich blühende Bärlauch- und Lerchenspornbestände.

Le chêne des mendiants est un monument naturel très particulier et en même temps un symbole de l'histoire mouvementée du Hainich, situé au centre de l'Allemagne. Ce chemin de randonnée passe par de nombreux sites culturel-historiques du parc national, comme la croix d'Ihlefeld, la Main de fer ou encore l'Ihlefeld. Au printemps, le chemin traverse de magnifiques tapis fleuris d'ail des ours et d'érythrone.

The Betteleiche is a very special natural monument and at the same time a symbol of the eventful history of the Hainich in central Germany. schema:value @de <p><strong>Vom Obergut in den Buchenwald </strong></p> <p>In Kammerforst, erstmals im Jahre 860 erwähnt, drängen sich entlang der Straße zum Obergut Fachwerkhäuser eng aneinander. Im Obergut, einem Fachwerkbau aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, befindet sich eine der vier <a href="https://www.nationalpark-hainich.de/de/ausflugsziele/nationalpark-informationen/nationalpark-information-kammerforst.html">Nationalpark-Information</a>en mit der Ausstellung "Wald im Wandel", die unbedingt einen Besuch lohnt. Hier treffen Wanderer auch immer einen Ranger an, der auf alle Fragen rund um den Nationalpark eine Antwort weiß.</p> <p>Vom Obergut geht es bergauf die nächste Straße nach links und dann nach rechts auf die Reckenbühlstraße, die leicht bergauf an Streuobstwiesen vorbei bis zum Waldrand führt. Hier biegt der Weg nach links und verläuft entlang eines Lärchenwäldchens in den Bechstedter Grund, der seinen Namen nach der schon 1506 wüstgefallenen Dorfstelle Bechstedt östlich von Kammerforst hat.</p> <p>Der Wanderer folgt nun kurz dem Grund in den Wald hinein. Nach einigen hundert Metern windet sich der Weg nach links bergauf in den Nationalpark. Wieder langsam bergab führend, wechselt das Waldbild kaum merklich vom Buchenwald zum Schluchtwald, geprägt von Esche und Ahorn.</p> <p>Schluchtwälder sind bezeichnend für die vielen Trockentäler des Hainich, die nur wenige Tage im Jahr Wasser führen. In der Baumschicht haben Eschen und Ahorne die Buche abgelöst. Frühblüher bilden auf dem Talgrund farbenfrohe Teppiche - die Farbpalette reicht vom Weiß der Märzenbecher und Buschwindröschen über Rotviolett des Hohlen Lerchensporns und Blau der Leberblümchen bis zum Gelb von Scharbockskraut, Wald-Goldstern, Gelbem Windröschen und Hoher Schlüsselblume.</p> <p><strong>Durch den Thamsbrücker Grund</strong></p> <p>Entlang des Thamsbrücker Grundes sind Grenzsteine mit folgenden eingearbeiteten Buchstabenfolgen zu finden: THB für Thamsbrück, vH für "von Hopfgarten", die ehemaligen Besitzer des Ihlefeldes, und GF für Gemeinde Flarchheim. Nach rechts geht es nun über eine massive Holztreppe bergauf bis zum Breiten Weg (Teil des "Waagebalkenweges"). Hier biegt der Wanderer nach links und gelangt durch strukturreiche Laubwälder zur Betteleiche.</p> <p>BetteleicheUm die Betteleiche, die Hermann Gutbier schon 1894 beschreibt, rankt sich eine Sage: Früher legten Einheimische und Vorbeireisende Spenden und Bittzettel für die Mönche der Klause am Ihlefeld an dieser Eiche nieder. Um die Gaben vor dem Wetter zu schützen, schlugen die Mönche eine kastenförmige Aushöhlung in den Stamm des Baumes. Durch fortschreitende Verwitterung erhielt die Eiche langsam ihre Gestalt.</p> <p>An der Betteleiche öffnet sich der Blick auf extensiv genutzte Wiesen, verwilderte Obstbäume und bei genauerem Hinsehen auf überwachsene Siedlungsreste - auf die legendäre Wüstung Ihlefeld. </p> <p><strong>Ihlefeld</strong></p> <p>Die Geschichte des Ihlefelds beginnt um 1110 - die Bruderschaft des Heiligen Antonius bekam ein Waldgebiet geschenkt, in dem Mönche die Klause "Eilfelden" errichteten. Bald spielte diese eine wichtige Rolle als "Walpert", als Wallfahrtsort. 1443 wurde die Klause vom St. Katharinen Kloster Eisenach erworben und vor allem als Wirtschaftshof genutzt. Reformation und Bauernkrieg beendeten dann das religiöse Leben im Hainich. Das Ihlefeld gelangte nun als Lehngut in den Besitz derer von Hopfgarten. 1964 wurden, aufgrund der Errichtung des Truppenübungsplatzes Weberstedt, die Gebäude des Ihlefeldes abgerissen. Auf dem Kellergewölbe eines ehemaligen Forsthauses entstand 1995 eine Schutzhütte, die heutige Schutzehütte Ihlefeld.</p> <p><strong>Eiserne Hand</strong></p> <p>Auf dem breiten Fahrweg geht es weiter vorbei am links im Wald liegenden Ihlefelder Kreuz, dem ältesten Flurdenkmal des Hainich, bis zur Kreuzung mit der "Eisernen Hand". Hier folgt der Wanderer vorerst dem Ringfinger Richtung Craula - Gotha (geradeaus).</p> <p>Die Eiserne Hand wird im Langensalzaer Amtsbuch schon 1554 erwähnt. Die eigenwillig gebogenen Finger des geschmiedeten Kunstwerkes weisen auf verschiedene Orte in und um den Hainich hin. Das Original der Eisernen Hand befindet sich in Mülverstedt. </p> <p>Nach ungefähr 250 m biegt der Betteleichenweg nach links auf die Triftchaussee, von der man wiederum nach links auf die Wiederbewaldungsflächen des ehemaligen Truppenübungsplatzes Weberstedt gelangt.</p> <p><strong>Sukzession</strong></p> <p>Sukzession bedeutet im Hainich Entwicklung zum Laubmischwald. Nach Ende der militärischen Nutzung und der Schafbeweidung kann man nun auf den ehemaligen Schießbahnen Sukzession vom dichtfilzigen Gräserstadium mit Disteln, Karden, Wegwarte und Johanniskraut am Wegesrand über das nach und nach dichter werdende Gebüschstadium aus Schlehen und Rosen bis zum Eschen-Jungwald beobachten.</p> <p>Bevor man den Wanderparkplatz "Am Zollgarten" erreicht, ist linkerhand ein artenreicher Waldrand ausgebildet. Vom Parkplatz kann man einen beeindruckenden Blick über das Thüringer Becken genießen.</p> <p>Eine gepflasterte Straße führt wieder zurück nach Kammerforst.</p>

Early bloomers form colorful carpets on the valley floor – the color palette ranges from the white of spring snowflakes and wood anemones to the reddish-violet of hollow Corydalis and the blue of liverleaf to the yellow of lesser celandine, wood stars, yellow windflower, and tall cowslip.</p> <p><strong>Through the Thamsbrücker Grund</strong></p> <p>Along the Thamsbrücker Grund, boundary stones with the following engraved letter sequences can be found: THB for Thamsbrück, vH for "von Hopfgarten," the former owners of Ihlefeld, and GF for the municipality of Flarchheim. To the right, a massive wooden staircase leads uphill to the Breiten Weg (part of the "Balance Beam Path"). Here, the hiker turns left and reaches the structurally rich deciduous forests to the Betteleiche.</p> <p>Betteleiche Around the Betteleiche, which Hermann Gutbier already described in 1894, a legend has grown: In earlier times, locals and passers-by left donations and petitions for the monks of the Ihlefeld hermitage at this oak. To protect the donations from the weather, the monks carved a box-shaped hollow into the trunk of the tree. Through ongoing weathering, the oak gradually took on its shape.</p> <p>From the Betteleiche, the view opens to extensively used meadows, overgrown fruit trees, and, on closer inspection, overgrown settlement remains – the legendary ghost town of Ihlefeld.</p> <p><strong>Ihlefeld</strong></p> <p>The history of Ihlefeld begins around 1110 – the Brotherhood of Saint Anthony was given a forest area where monks built the hermitage "Eilfelden." The uniquely bent fingers of the forged artwork point to different places in and around the Hainich. The original Iron Hand is located in Mülverstedt.</p> <p>After about 250 m, the Betteleiche path turns left onto the Triftchaussee, from which you turn left again onto the reforestation areas of the former Weberstedt military training area.</p> <p><strong>Succession</strong></p> <p>Succession in the Hainich means development into mixed deciduous forest. Les randonneurs y rencontrent toujours un agent de parc national qui peut répondre à toutes les questions concernant le parc.</p> <p>De l'Obergut, montez la prochaine rue à gauche, puis à droite sur la Reckenbühlstraße, qui monte légèrement en passant par des vergers jusqu'à la lisière de la forêt. Là, le chemin tourne à gauche et longe une petite forêt de mélèzes jusqu'à la vallée de Bechstedter Grund, nommée d'après le village déserté de Bechstedt à l'est de Kammerforst datant de 1506.</p> <p>Le randonneur suit alors brièvement la vallée dans la forêt. Après quelques centaines de mètres, le chemin monte en tournant à gauche dans le parc national. En redescendant lentement, le paysage forestier change imperceptiblement de la forêt de hêtres à la forêt en gorge, dominée par le frêne et l'érable.</p> <p>Les forêts en gorge caractérisent les nombreuses vallées sèches du Hainich, ne portant de l'eau que quelques jours par an. Dans la couche arborée, les frênes et érables ont remplacé le hêtre. Les plantes printanières forment des tapis colorés au fond de la vallée – la palette de couleurs va du blanc des perce-neige et anémone des bois au rouge violet de l'érythrone creux et au bleu des hépatites, jusqu'au jaune du ficaria, de la stellaire d'Europe, de l'anémone jaune et de la coucou élevée.</p> <p><strong>À travers la vallée de Thamsbrücker Grund</strong></p> <p>Le long de la vallée de Thamsbrücker Grund, on trouve des bornes frontières avec les inscriptions : THB pour Thamsbrück, vH pour "von Hopfgarten", anciens propriétaires de l'Ihlefeld, et GF pour la commune de Flarchheim. Puis, à droite, une large volée d'escaliers en bois monte jusqu'au Breiten Weg (qui fait partie du "Waagebalkenweg"). Le randonneur tourne ensuite à gauche et traverse des forêts feuillues aux structures variées jusqu'au chêne des mendiants.</p> <p>Chêne des mendiants – une légende entoure ce chêne que Hermann Gutbier décrit déjà en 1894 : autrefois, les habitants locaux et les voyageurs déposaient à cet arbre des dons et des intentions de prière pour les moines de la chapelle de l'Ihlefeld. Pour protéger ces offrandes des intempéries, les moines ont creusé dans le tronc une cavité en forme de boîte. Avec l'usure progressive, le chêne a lentement pris cette forme.</p> <p>À partir du chêne des mendiants, la vue s'ouvre sur des prairies exploitées extensivement, des arbres fruitiers sauvages et, à une observation plus attentive, sur des vestiges de peuplement envahis – sur le légendaire désert Ihlefeld.</p> <p><strong>Ihlefeld</strong></p> <p>L'histoire de l'Ihlefeld commence vers 1110 – la confrérie de Saint Antoine reçut une forêt en don où les moines construisirent la chapelle "Eilfelden". Elle devint rapidement un lieu de pèlerinage important, le "Walpert". En 1443, la chapelle fut acquise par le monastère Sainte-Catherine d'Eisenach et utilisée principalement comme ferme. La réforme et la guerre des paysans mirent fin à la vie religieuse dans le Hainich. L'Ihlefeld passa en tenure aux von Hopfgarten. En 1964, lors de la création du camp d'entraînement de Weberstedt, les bâtiments de l'Ihlefeld furent démolis. En 1995, un refuge fut construit sur la voûte du sous-sol d'une ancienne maison forestière – l'actuel refuge Ihlefeld.</p> <p><strong>Main de fer</strong></p> <p>Le chemin large continue en passant à côté de la croix de l'Ihlefeld, le plus ancien monument du Hainich, puis jusqu'à l'intersection de la "Main de fer". Ici, le randonneur suit d'abord le doigt annulaire en direction de Craula - Gotha (tout droit).</p> <p>La Main de fer est mentionnée dès 1554 dans le registre administratif de Langensalza. Les doigts tordus de cette œuvre forgée indiquent différents lieux dans et autour du Hainich. L'original de la Main de fer se trouve à Mülverstedt.</p> <p>Après environ 250 m, le chemin du chêne des mendiants tourne à gauche sur la Triftchaussee, d'où l'on accède encore une fois à gauche aux zones de reforestation de l'ancien camp d'entraînement militaire de Weberstedt.</p> <p><strong>Succession</strong></p> <p>La succession signifie dans le Hainich la progression vers une forêt mixte feuillue. Après la fin de l'utilisation militaire et du pâturage des moutons, on peut observer sur les anciens champs de tir la succession allant de l'étape de prairies denses avec des graminées, chardons, cardères, chicorée et millepertuis au bord du chemin, en passant par un stade de buissons de prunelliers et de roses de plus en plus denses jusqu'à la jeune forêt de frênes.</p> <p>Avant d'atteindre le parking de randonnée "Am Zollgarten", un bord de forêt riche en espèces s'est formé sur la gauche. Depuis ce parking, on jouit d'une vue impressionnante sur le bassin de Thuringe.</p> <p>Une route pavée mène de nouveau à Kammerforst.</p>

BetteleicheUm die Betteleiche, die Hermann Gutbier schon 1894 beschreibt, rankt sich eine Sage: Früher legten Einheimische und Vorbeireisende Spenden und Bittzettel für die Mönche der Klause am Ihlefeld an dieser Eiche nieder. Um die Gaben vor dem Wetter zu schützen, schlugen die Mönche eine kastenförmige Aushöhlung in den Stamm des Baumes. Durch fortschreitende Verwitterung erhielt die Eiche langsam ihre Gestalt. An der Betteleiche öffnet sich der Blick auf extensiv genutzte Wiesen, verwilderte Obstbäume und bei genauerem Hinsehen auf überwachsene Siedlungsreste - auf die legendäre Wüstung Ihlefeld.  Ihlefeld Die Geschichte des Ihlefelds beginnt um 1110 - die Bruderschaft des Heiligen Antonius bekam ein Waldgebiet geschenkt, in dem Mönche die Klause "Eilfelden" errichteten. Bald spielte diese eine wichtige Rolle als "Walpert", als Wallfahrtsort. 1443 wurde die Klause vom St. Katharinen Kloster Eisenach erworben und vor allem als Wirtschaftshof genutzt. Reformation und Bauernkrieg beendeten dann das religiöse Leben im Hainich. Das Ihlefeld gelangte nun als Lehngut in den Besitz derer von Hopfgarten. 1964 wurden, aufgrund der Errichtung des Truppenübungsplatzes Weberstedt, die Gebäude des Ihlefeldes abgerissen. Auf dem Kellergewölbe eines ehemaligen Forsthauses entstand 1995 eine Schutzhütte, die heutige Schutzehütte Ihlefeld. Eiserne Hand Auf dem breiten Fahrweg geht es weiter vorbei am links im Wald liegenden Ihlefelder Kreuz, dem ältesten Flurdenkmal des Hainich, bis zur Kreuzung mit der "Eisernen Hand". Hier folgt der Wanderer vorerst dem Ringfinger Richtung Craula - Gotha (geradeaus). Die Eiserne Hand wird im Langensalzaer Amtsbuch schon 1554 erwähnt. Die eigenwillig gebogenen Finger des geschmiedeten Kunstwerkes weisen auf verschiedene Orte in und um den Hainich hin. Das Original der Eisernen Hand befindet sich in Mülverstedt.  Nach ungefähr 250 m biegt der Betteleichenweg nach links auf die Triftchaussee, von der man wiederum nach links auf die Wiederbewaldungsflächen des ehemaligen Truppenübungsplatzes Weberstedt gelangt. Sukzession Sukzession bedeutet im Hainich Entwicklung zum Laubmischwald. Nach Ende der militärischen Nutzung und der Schafbeweidung kann man nun auf den ehemaligen Schießbahnen Sukzession vom dichtfilzigen Gräserstadium mit Disteln, Karden, Wegwarte und Johanniskraut am Wegesrand über das nach und nach dichter werdende Gebüschstadium aus Schlehen und Rosen bis zum Eschen-Jungwald beobachten. Bevor man den Wanderparkplatz "Am Zollgarten" erreicht, ist linkerhand ein artenreicher Waldrand ausgebildet. Vom Parkplatz kann man einen beeindruckenden Blick über das Thüringer Becken genießen. Eine gepflasterte Straße führt wieder zurück nach Kammerforst.

Les randonneurs y rencontrent toujours un agent de parc national qui peut répondre à toutes les questions concernant le parc. De l'Obergut, montez la prochaine rue à gauche, puis à droite sur la Reckenbühlstraße, qui monte légèrement en passant par des vergers jusqu'à la lisière de la forêt. Là, le chemin tourne à gauche et longe une petite forêt de mélèzes jusqu'à la vallée de Bechstedter Grund, nommée d'après le village déserté de Bechstedt à l'est de Kammerforst datant de 1506. Le randonneur suit alors brièvement la vallée dans la forêt. Après quelques centaines de mètres, le chemin monte en tournant à gauche dans le parc national. En redescendant lentement, le paysage forestier change imperceptiblement de la forêt de hêtres à la forêt en gorge, dominée par le frêne et l'érable. Les forêts en gorge caractérisent les nombreuses vallées sèches du Hainich, ne portant de l'eau que quelques jours par an. Dans la couche arborée, les frênes et érables ont remplacé le hêtre. Les plantes printanières forment des tapis colorés au fond de la vallée – la palette de couleurs va du blanc des perce-neige et anémone des bois au rouge violet de l'érythrone creux et au bleu des hépatites, jusqu'au jaune du ficaria, de la stellaire d'Europe, de l'anémone jaune et de la coucou élevée. À travers la vallée de Thamsbrücker Grund Le long de la vallée de Thamsbrücker Grund, on trouve des bornes frontières avec les inscriptions : THB pour Thamsbrück, vH pour "von Hopfgarten", anciens propriétaires de l'Ihlefeld, et GF pour la commune de Flarchheim. Puis, à droite, une large volée d'escaliers en bois monte jusqu'au Breiten Weg (qui fait partie du "Waagebalkenweg"). Le randonneur tourne ensuite à gauche et traverse des forêts feuillues aux structures variées jusqu'au chêne des mendiants. Chêne des mendiants – une légende entoure ce chêne que Hermann Gutbier décrit déjà en 1894 : autrefois, les habitants locaux et les voyageurs déposaient à cet arbre des dons et des intentions de prière pour les moines de la chapelle de l'Ihlefeld. Pour protéger ces offrandes des intempéries, les moines ont creusé dans le tronc une cavité en forme de boîte. Avec l'usure progressive, le chêne a lentement pris cette forme. À partir du chêne des mendiants, la vue s'ouvre sur des prairies exploitées extensivement, des arbres fruitiers sauvages et, à une observation plus attentive, sur des vestiges de peuplement envahis – sur le légendaire désert Ihlefeld. Ihlefeld L'histoire de l'Ihlefeld commence vers 1110 – la confrérie de Saint Antoine reçut une forêt en don où les moines construisirent la chapelle "Eilfelden". Elle devint rapidement un lieu de pèlerinage important, le "Walpert". En 1443, la chapelle fut acquise par le monastère Sainte-Catherine d'Eisenach et utilisée principalement comme ferme. La réforme et la guerre des paysans mirent fin à la vie religieuse dans le Hainich. L'Ihlefeld passa en tenure aux von Hopfgarten. En 1964, lors de la création du camp d'entraînement de Weberstedt, les bâtiments de l'Ihlefeld furent démolis. En 1995, un refuge fut construit sur la voûte du sous-sol d'une ancienne maison forestière – l'actuel refuge Ihlefeld. Main de fer Le chemin large continue en passant à côté de la croix de l'Ihlefeld, le plus ancien monument du Hainich, puis jusqu'à l'intersection de la "Main de fer". Ici, le randonneur suit d'abord le doigt annulaire en direction de Craula - Gotha (tout droit). La Main de fer est mentionnée dès 1554 dans le registre administratif de Langensalza. Les doigts tordus de cette œuvre forgée indiquent différents lieux dans et autour du Hainich. L'original de la Main de fer se trouve à Mülverstedt. Après environ 250 m, le chemin du chêne des mendiants tourne à gauche sur la Triftchaussee, d'où l'on accède encore une fois à gauche aux zones de reforestation de l'ancien camp d'entraînement militaire de Weberstedt. Succession La succession signifie dans le Hainich la progression vers une forêt mixte feuillue. Après la fin de l'utilisation militaire et du pâturage des moutons, on peut observer sur les anciens champs de tir la succession allant de l'étape de prairies denses avec des graminées, chardons, cardères, chicorée et millepertuis au bord du chemin, en passant par un stade de buissons de prunelliers et de roses de plus en plus denses jusqu'à la jeune forêt de frênes. Avant d'atteindre le parking de randonnée "Am Zollgarten", un bord de forêt riche en espèces s'est formé sur la gauche. Depuis ce parking, on jouit d'une vue impressionnante sur le bassin de Thuringe. Une route pavée mène de nouveau à Kammerforst.

Here the path turns left and continues along a small larch forest into the Bechstedter Grund, which is named after the abandoned village site of Bechstedt east of Kammerforst, deserted since 1506. The hiker now briefly follows the Grund into the forest. After a few hundred meters, the path winds left uphill into the National Park. Slowly leading downhill again, the forest scenery changes almost imperceptibly from beech forest to ravine forest, characterized by ash and maple. Ravine forests are typical for the many dry valleys of the Hainich, which only carry water a few days a year. In the tree layer, ash and maples have replaced the beech. Early bloomers form colorful carpets on the valley floor – the color palette ranges from the white of spring snowflakes and wood anemones to the reddish-violet of hollow Corydalis and the blue of liverleaf to the yellow of lesser celandine, wood stars, yellow windflower, and tall cowslip. Through the Thamsbrücker Grund Along the Thamsbrücker Grund, boundary stones with the following engraved letter sequences can be found: THB for Thamsbrück, vH for "von Hopfgarten," the former owners of Ihlefeld, and GF for the municipality of Flarchheim. To the right, a massive wooden staircase leads uphill to the Breiten Weg (part of the "Balance Beam Path"). Here, the hiker turns left and reaches the structurally rich deciduous forests to the Betteleiche. Betteleiche Around the Betteleiche, which Hermann Gutbier already described in 1894, a legend has grown: In earlier times, locals and passers-by left donations and petitions for the monks of the Ihlefeld hermitage at this oak. To protect the donations from the weather, the monks carved a box-shaped hollow into the trunk of the tree. Through ongoing weathering, the oak gradually took on its shape. From the Betteleiche, the view opens to extensively used meadows, overgrown fruit trees, and, on closer inspection, overgrown settlement remains – the legendary ghost town of Ihlefeld. Ihlefeld The history of Ihlefeld begins around 1110 – the Brotherhood of Saint Anthony was given a forest area where monks built the hermitage "Eilfelden." Soon, this played an important role as "Walpert," a pilgrimage site. In 1443, the hermitage was acquired by the St. Catherine's Monastery Eisenach and mainly used as an economic estate. Here, the hiker initially follows the ring finger direction to Craula - Gotha (straight ahead). The Iron Hand was already mentioned in the Langensalza office book in 1554. The uniquely bent fingers of the forged artwork point to different places in and around the Hainich. The original Iron Hand is located in Mülverstedt. After about 250 m, the Betteleiche path turns left onto the Triftchaussee, from which you turn left again onto the reforestation areas of the former Weberstedt military training area. Succession Succession in the Hainich means development into mixed deciduous forest. After the end of military use and sheep grazing, succession can now be observed on the former shooting ranges from the dense grass stage with thistles, teasels, chicory, and St. John's wort on the roadside through the gradually denser shrub stage of blackthorn and roses to the young ash forest. Before reaching the "Am Zollgarten" hiking parking lot, a species-rich forest edge has developed on the left. From the parking lot, you can enjoy an impressive view over the Thuringian Basin. A paved road leads back to Kammerforst.
