Der “Guckgarten” vor dem Festsaal symbolisiert die Landschaft entlang der Leine. Er stellt damit eine Landschaft im städtischen Raum dar, die sich zugleich in derselben Landschaft befindet. Wer sich auf das Erkennen dieses Wechselspiels einlässt, der kann auch noch mehr sehen. So wirkt der Gesamtgarten auch wie eine Seenlandschaft mit mehreren Inseln oder wie Bergspitzen über den Wolken, er kann sogar als die Planeten im All interpretiert werden. Wie im traditionellen japanischen Garten ist auch hier die Kraft der Natur durch die Komposition der Steine, des Wassers und der Pflanzen immer spürbar. Das Besondere an diesem Garten jedoch ist, dass er sich in einem großartigen städtischen Raum befindet, mit dem er im ständigen Dialog steht.
