About: Birkungen

Birkungen ist bekannt durch die nahegelegene Talsperre und bietet zahlreiche Erholungsmöglichkeiten, wie Wanderungen zu den Resten der Burg Birkenstein entlang des Mühlenweges oder den Besuch im ehemaligen Zisterzienserkloster Reifenstein ‐ heute ein Krankenhaus. Von besonderer Bedeutung ist der 1748 errichtete Kreuzweg, der zur 1750 erbauten Kapelle führt und in 14 Stationen vom Leben und Sterben Jesu berichtet. Das Dorf wurde im Jahr 1191 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt.

Birkungen est connu pour le barrage voisin et offre de nombreuses possibilités de loisirs, comme des randonnées vers les vestiges du château de Birkenstein le long du Mühlenweg ou une visite de l'ancien monastère cistercien de Reifenstein - aujourd'hui un hôpital.
