Im Jahre 1750 wurde die Kapelle auf einer Anhöhe nahe Birkungen erbaut. Zu ihr führt von der Kirche St. Johannes der Täufer ein Kreuzweg, der in seiner heutigen Aufmachung 1748 entstand. Die letzten Stationen sind an der Kapelle zu finden, Station 12 hingegen wurde separat in einem Häuschen mit Kreuzen dargestellt.
In 1750 the chapel was built on a hill near Birkungen. A Way of the Cross leads to it from the church of St. John the Baptist, which was created in its present form in 1748. The last stations can be found at the chapel, station 12, however, was presented separately in a cottage with crosses.
