Rohrborn lies southeast of Sömmerda on a height of 165 m over NN and is with 231 inhabitants one of the small local parts of the city. The rural Rohrborn offers also with the residential area at the western edge of the place good conditions. About 30 new houses have been built here in the meantime. The village center is characterized by many old trees and greenery. Here also one of the few still in the original condition preserved woad mills of Thuringia stands, on which the Rohrborner are particularly proud. That is why the Waidmühlenfestival is celebrated every year at the end of August, to which many visitors from the region come. Then one can experience the Waidmühle in action. The association "Rohrborner Dorfgemeinschaft" e. V. also maintains the tradition of woad cultivation. Another sight is the very old Romanesque church "St. Michael" with the restored altar and the rare free-standing baptismal font. Here preached from 1768 to 1772 also the famous pedagogue Christian Gotthilf Salzmann, born in Sömmerda. The contact point for the citizens of Rohrborn is the former restaurant "Zur Waidmühle", which was converted into the village community centre. The house is managed by the association "Rohrborner Dorfgemeinschaft" e. V. and can be used for meetings, events or private celebrations. The surroundings of Rohrborn are agricultural. There are also some smaller lakes to be found there. These are former flooded opencast mines for clay extraction. The clay was once used to supply the "Martini" brickworks in Sömmerda.

C'est pourquoi le Waidmühlenfestival est célébré chaque année à la fin du mois d'août, auquel se rendent de nombreux visiteurs de la région. On peut alors voir la Waidmühle en action. L'association "Rohrborner Dorfgemeinschaft" e. V. maintient également la tradition de la culture du pastel. Une autre curiosité est la très ancienne église romane "St. Michael" avec son autel restauré et les rares fonts baptismaux sur pied. C'est là qu'a prêché, de 1768 à 1772, le célèbre pédagogue Christian Gotthilf Salzmann, né à Sömmerda. Le point de contact des citoyens de Rohrborn est l'ancien restaurant "Zur Waidmühle", qui a été transformé en centre communautaire du village. La maison est gérée par l'association "Rohrborner Dorfgemeinschaft" e. V. et peut être utilisée pour des réunions, des événements ou des célébrations privées. Les environs de Rohrborn sont agricoles. On y trouve également quelques petits lacs. Il s'agit d'anciennes mines à ciel ouvert inondées pour l'extraction de l'argile. L'argile était autrefois utilisée pour alimenter la briqueterie "Martini" de Sömmerda.

Das ländlich geprägte Rohrborn bietet auch mit dem Wohngebiet am Westrand des Ortes gute Bedingungen. An die 30 neuen Häuser sind hier mittlerweile entstanden. Die Dorfmitte ist von vielen alten Bäumen und Grün geprägt. Hier steht auch eine der wenigen noch im Originalzustand erhaltenen Waidmühlen Thüringens, auf die die Rohrborner besonders stolz sind. Darum wird auch jedes Jahr Ende August das Waidmühlenfest gefeiert, zu dem viele Besucher aus der Region kommen. Dann kann man die Waidmühle in Aktion erleben. Der Verein "Rohrborner Dorfgemeinschaft" e. V. pflegt zudem noch die Tradition des Waidanbaus. Eine weitere Sehenswürdigkeit ist die sehr alte romanische Kirche „St. Michael“ mit dem restauriertem Altar und dem seltenen freistehenden Taufstein. Hier predigte von 1768 bis 1772 auch der in Sömmerda geborene berühmte Pädagoge Christian Gotthilf Salzmann. Anlaufpunkt für die Rohrborner Bürger ist die ehemalige Gaststätte "Zur Waidmühle", die zum Dorfgemeinschaftshaus umfunktioniert wurde. Das Haus wird verwaltet vom Verein "Rohrborner Dorfgemeinschaft" e. V. und kann für Treffen, Veranstaltungen oder private Feiern genutzt werden. Die Umgebung Rohrborns ist landwirtschaftlich geprägt. Zu finden sind dort auch einige kleinere Seen. Bei diesen handelt es sich um ehemalige geflutete Tagebaue zur Tongewinnung. Mit dem Ton wurden einst die „Martini“-Ziegelwerke in Sömmerda beliefert.
