Die Gemeinde Mülverstedt liegt im westlichen Teil des Thüringer Beckens, direkt am Fuße des Hainichs. Eine genaue Entstehungszeit des Ortes kann nicht nachgewiesen werden. Ausgrabungen haben jedoch ergeben, dass bereits in der frühen Steinzeit Menschen in dieser Gegend lebten. Eines der bekanntesten Häuser des Ortes ist das ehemalige Freigut. Im 18. Jahrhundert gehörte es der Landadelsfamilie von Tristan und wurde um 1760 von der Familie von Hopffgarten übernommen. Nach einer wechselvollen Geschichte beherbergt es heute als kulturelle Sehenswürdigkeit eine einzigartige Trachtensammlung. Die evangelische Dorfkirche St. Martini steht an der Stelle einer Vorgängerkirche, von der nur noch der Turm aus dem Jahr 1698 erhalten ist. Das Kirchenschiff stammt aus dem Jahr 1703 und sein heutiges Aussehen ist von vielen Umbauten in der Vergangenheit geprägt. Ein reges Vereinsleben wird durch den Pfingst- und Kirmesverein, Kirchenchor, Karnevalsverein, Feuerwehr, Heimat- und Kulturverein, Jugendclub, Motorsportclub, Schützenverein und Sportverein gebildet. Mülverstedt ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Wander- und Radtouren in das unverwechselbare Naturparadies UNESCO-Nationalpark Hainich. Teile der Gemeindeflur Mülverstedt liegen im Nationalpark. Auch das sogenannte Ihlefeld, eine kleine ehemalige Siedlung auf dem Bergrücken des Hainichs, ist vom Ort aus gut zu erreichen. Die Betteleiche, das Ihlefelder Kreuz, der Reckenbühl und die Eiserne Hand sind beliebte Wanderziele und bekannte Sehenswürdigkeiten im Ihlefeld. Die Gemeinde Vogtei mit dem Mittelpunkt Deutschlands und das Opfermoor sind von Mülverstedt aus ebenso gut zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad erreichbar.

Une partie de la paroisse de Mülverstedt se trouve dans le parc national. Le " Ihlefeld", un ancien petit village situé sur la crête du Hainich, est également facile à atteindre depuis le village. La Betteleiche, l' Ihlefelder Kreuz, le Reckenbühl et l' Eiserne Hand sont des destinations de randonnée populaires et des sites bien connus dans l'Ihlefeld. The municipality of Mülverstedt is located in the western part of the Thuringian Basin, directly at the foot of the Hainich. An exact time of origin of the place cannot be proven. However, excavations have shown that already in the early Stone Age people lived in this area. One of the most famous houses in the village is the former Freigut. In the 18th century it belonged to the landed gentry family von Tristan and was taken over by the von Hopffgarten family around 1760. After an eventful history, it now houses a unique collection of traditional costumes as a cultural sight. The Protestant village church of St. Martini stands on the site of a predecessor church, of which only the tower from 1698 remains. The nave dates back to 1703 and its present appearance has been shaped by many alterations in the past. A lively club life is formed by the Whitsun and fair association, church choir, carnival association, fire brigade, local history and culture association, youth club, motor sports club, shooting club and sports club. Mülverstedt is a good starting point for hiking and cycling tours in the unmistakable natural paradise of the UNESCO Hainich National Park. Parts of the Mülverstedt parish lie in the national park. The so-called Ihlefeld, a small former settlement on the ridge of the Hainich, is also easy to reach from the village. The Betteleiche, the Ihlefelder Kreuz, the Reckenbühl and the Eiserne Hand are popular hiking destinations and well-known sights in the Ihlefeld. The community of Vogtei with the centre of Germany and the Opfermoor are just as easy to reach from Mülverstedt on foot or by bike.
