Durch gemeinsame Anstrengungen von Naturschützern, Teich-, Forst- und Landwirten konnte hier eine strukturreiche Landschaft erhalten werden, die eine Vielzahl seltener und bedrohter Tier- und Pflanzenarten Lebensraum bietet. Das Teichgebiet ist ein wichtiger Rastplatz für Zugvögel. Die faszinierende Welt der Wasservögel kann man ganzjährig besonders gut von zwei Beobachtungstürmen und dem teichnahen Erlebnispfad aus beobachten. Im gesamten Teichgebiet findet man Informationen auf Tafeln und im Hausteichhaus, wo eine Ausstellung zu besichtigen ist. Der 1000-Teiche-Rundweg ist in eine nördliche Runde "kurz" (3,2 km) und südliche Runde "mittel" (5,1 km) eingeteilt. Die Variante "gesamt" (6,8 km) beschreibt den äußeren Umlauf beider. Achten Sie daher auf die Beschilderung. Sollten Sie die Navigationsfunktion nutzen, beschreibt der Wegverlauf technisch bedingt die Form der Zahl "8" mit einer Gesamtlänge von 8,3 km.

Grâce aux efforts conjoints des protecteurs de la nature, des pisciculteurs, forestiers et agriculteurs, un paysage structuré a pu être préservé ici, offrant un habitat à de nombreuses espèces animales et végétales rares et menacées. Beginnend am Parkplatz an der Informationsstelle für Naturschutz und Umwelt nahe der Jugendherberge Plothen gehen Sie in nördlicher Richtung, vorbei an der Jugendherberge um den „Hausteich“ herum. Sie überqueren hinter der Jugendherberge den Zuflussgraben des „Hausteiches“ und gehen links entlang des Uferweges durch den Campingplatz. Unmittelbar hinter einem kleinen Imbiss, biegen Sie rechts ab. Nach 200m gehen Sie links und verlassen somit das Campinggelände. Nun geht es mehrere 100m geradeaus. Nachdem Sie die Forststraße überquert haben, befinden Sie sich im Naturschutzgebiet und gelangen schließlich an einen kleinen Teich. Diesen lassen Sie rechts liegen und biegen an dessen Ende nach links zum „Fürstenteich“ ab, wo Sie an einer Vogelbeobachtungshütte vorbei kommen. Hier gabelt sich der Weg in die beiden Touren „mittel“ und „gesamt“. Unsere Wahl fällt auf die Gesamtstrecke, da wir uns die Reize der nördlichen Tour „kurz“ nicht entgehen lassen wollen und gehen rechts. Nachdem Sie ein idyllisches Waldstück durchquert haben, kommen Sie an eine Spitzkehre am Waldrand, welche auch schon den Rückweg einleitet. Entlang auf einem schmalen Wanderweg im Wald zwischen Gräben und Krötenleiteinrichtungen wandern Sie nun durch das „Alte Teichgebiet“, vorbei am „Oberländerteich“. An dessen Ende gehen Sie links entlang der Hecke zum "Semmlergruppenteich". Von hier aus geht es über Teichdämme in Richtung Pfahlhaus. Dort angekommen sehen Sie bereits den Ausgangspunkt Ihrer Wanderung, den Sie über eine Wiese erreichen.

Vous le laissez à droite et tournez à gauche au bout pour aller vers l’„Fürstenteich“, où vous passez devant une cabane d’observation des oiseaux. Le chemin se divise ici en deux parcours, "mittel" et "gesamt". Nous choisissons le parcours complet, car nous ne voulons pas manquer les attraits du parcours nord "kurz" et prenons donc à droite. Après avoir traversé une partie idyllique de forêt, vous arrivez à un virage en épingle en lisière de forêt, qui annonce aussi le chemin du retour. Le chemin continue maintenant sur plusieurs digues d’étangs jusqu’à une autre cabane d’observation des oiseaux, où les deux parcours "kurz" et "mittel" fusionnent à nouveau avec le parcours "gesamt". Vous marchez un petit peu vers la droite jusqu’à la route - en face se trouve la "vieille zone d’étangs" avec l’"Starenteich" et ses roseaux - et tournez à gauche devant celle-ci. Sur un sentier étroit en forêt, entre des fossés et des dispositifs pour les crapauds, vous traversez maintenant la "vieille zone d’étangs", en passant devant l’"Oberländerteich". À sa fin, vous prenez à gauche le long de la haie vers le "Semmlergruppenteich". De là, vous suivez les digues d’étangs en direction du Pfahlhaus.
