Die Wanderung beginnt am Wanderparkplatz "Steiger" in Saalfeld. Der Weg führt zunächst über den sogenannten "Saure-Wiesen-Weg" in Richtung Feengrotten. Bevor man diese jedoch erreicht, führt der Weg rechts weiter in Richtung Stadt. Bergab erreicht man dann denBergfried-Park. Wer hier eine kurze Pause machen möchte, kann sich die kostenfreie Ausstellung im Gärtnerhaus am Fuß des Berges anschauen. Weiter geht es dann bergan durch die prächtige Parkanlage bis zur Bergfriedklinik. Den Fuchsturm linker Hand lässt man hinter sich und folgt stattdessen dem Weg in Richtung eines kleinen Waldstückes. Danach beginnt eine gemächliche Steigung durch die Saalfelder Flur, bis man den Wanderparkplatz am Steiger schließlich wieder erreicht.

La randonnée commence au parking de randonnée "Steiger" à Saalfeld. Le chemin passe d’abord par le appelé "Sentier des Prairies Acides" en direction des Grottes de Fées. Avant d’y arriver, le chemin continue à droite en direction de la ville. En descendant, on arrive au Parc Bergfried. Ceux qui veulent faire une courte pause peuvent visiter gratuitement l’exposition dans la maison du jardinier au pied de la colline. Ensuite, le parcours monte à travers la magnifique zone de parc jusqu’à la clinique Bergfried. La tour du renard sur la gauche est laissée derrière soi et on suit ensuite le chemin en direction d’un petit bois. Après commence une montée tranquille à travers la campagne de Saalfeld jusqu’à finalement retrouver le parking de randonnée de Steiger.

The hike starts at the Steiger hiking car park in Saalfeld. The path first leads over the so-called “Sour Meadows Path” toward the Feengrotten. Before reaching them, the path turns right toward the town. Going downhill you reach Bergfried Park. Those who want to take a short break here can view the free exhibition in the gardener’s house at the foot of the mountain. Then it goes uphill through the magnificent park area to the Bergfried Clinic. The Fox Tower is left behind on the left, and instead, the path follows toward a small woodland. Then a gentle climb begins through the Saalfeld fields until you finally reach the Steiger hiking car park again.
