Bei dieser Etappe auf der Saale von Hirschberg bis Harra ist der sportliche Geist gefragt, da einige Wehre im Wasser vorhanden sind. Lassen Sie sich herausfordern und genießen Sie dabei wunderbare, malerische Blicke aus einer Sichtweise, die dem Menschen "an Land" verborgen bleibt. In diesem Abschnitt war die Saale 40 Jahre lang Grenzfluss und trennt heute die Bundesländer Thüringen und Bayern. Beginnen Sie Ihre Tour in Hirschberg am Steinmühlenwehr. Dort sind ausreichend Parkmöglichkeiten vorhanden. Befahrbar ist dieser Abschnitt nur bei einem Pegelstand in Hof über 1,80 Meter! 500 Meter weiter müssen Sie Ihr erstes Hindernis auf der rechten Seite überwinden. Nach 5 km kommen Sie an das Sparnberger Wehr (rechts), dem sich 100 m weiter der Sparnberger Festplatz (rechts) mit einer Gelegenheit zur Pause anschließt. Weiter geht es auf dem Grenzfluss zur Blumenaumühle, dem sportlichen Höhepunkt dieses Abschnittes. An der markierten Ausstiegsstelle (rechts) packen Sie Ihr Boot auf den mitgebrachten Bootswagen und transportieren es 600 m über die "Grüne Brücke" zur Einstiegsstelle auf fränkischer Seite. In Blankenberg erwartet die versierten Paddler bei entsprechendem Wasserstand ein Kanu-Fischpass. Außerdem lohnt sich ein Ausflug auf die Bastei mit Schlossruine. Nach ca. 2 km erreichen Sie die Rennsteiggemeinde Blankenstein, wo die Selbitz in die Saale mündet. Hier finden Sie Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und touristische Informationen (links). Ein Wehr gilt es noch zu bewältigen (rechts), bevor Sie unbeschwert nach Harra paddeln können. Interessante Einblicke bieten sich durch die imposante Zellstoff- und Papierfabrik. Dans ce tronçon, la Saale a été pendant 40 ans une rivière frontalière et sépare aujourd’hui les Länder de Thuringe et de Bavière. Commencez votre parcours à Hirschberg au barrage Steinmühlenwehr. Des possibilités de stationnement sont largement disponibles. Ce tronçon n’est navigable que si le niveau d’eau à Hof dépasse 1,80 mètre ! À 500 mètres plus loin, vous devez franchir votre premier obstacle sur le côté droit. Après 5 km, vous arrivez au barrage de Sparnberg (droite), suivi 100 m plus loin par la place de fête de Sparnberg (droite) offrant une possibilité de pause. Continuez sur la rivière frontalière jusqu’au moulin Blumenaumühle, point culminant sportif de cette section. À l’endroit de sortie marqué (droite), chargez votre bateau sur le chariot apporté et transportez-le sur 600 m par le « pont vert » jusqu’au point d’entrée côté franconien. À Blankenberg, les pagayeurs expérimentés trouvent un passage pour poissons-canoë en cas de niveau d’eau adéquat. Une excursion à la Bastei avec ruines de château vaut également le détour. Après environ 2 km, vous atteignez la commune de Rennsteig Blankenstein, où la Selbitz se jette dans la Saale. Vous y trouverez des commerces et des informations touristiques (gauche). Un dernier barrage doit être franchi (droite) avant de pagayer sans souci jusqu’à Harra. L’usine imposante de pâte à papier offre des aperçus intéressants.
