Der Thüringer Urwaldpfad verläuft durch die schönsten Wälder Leutenbergs. Viele schöne Rastplätze und Aussichtspunkte laden entlang dieses naturnahen Weges zum Verweilen ein. Empfehlenswert ist es, die Wanderung entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn vorzunehmen. Der Weg ist nicht barrierefrei und nicht für Fahrradtouren geeignet. Die Wanderstrecke beträgt 6,8 km. Allerdings erfordern drei steile Anstiege Kondition. Bahnhof Leutenberg – Unterhütte – Goldkuppe - Abzw. Cronebrunnen - Wandslebhütte - Abzw. Le sentier forestier primitif de Thuringe traverse les plus belles forêts de Leutenberg. De nombreux beaux endroits pour se reposer et des points de vue invitent le long de ce chemin naturel à faire une pause. Il est recommandé de faire la randonnée dans le sens antihoraire. Le chemin n'est pas accessible aux personnes à mobilité réduite et n'est pas adapté aux randonnées à vélo. Le parcours de randonnée fait 6,8 km. Cependant, trois montées raides nécessitent une bonne forme physique. The Thuringian Urwaldpfad runs through the most beautiful forests of Leutenberg. Many lovely resting places and viewpoints invite you to linger along this nature-close path. It is recommended to hike counterclockwise. The path is not barrier-free and not suitable for bike routes. The hiking distance is 6.8 km. However, three steep climbs require stamina. Une multitude d'arbres morts impressionnants bordent le chemin ici. Le sentier passe devant une ancienne mine d'ardoise qui ne doit pas être visitée. Lorsque vous voyez la ville pour la première fois, un panneau de randonnée indique un chemin descendant à gauche vers la source Crone, ce qui raccourcirait la randonnée. Mais vous prenez le chemin à moitié à droite, sinon vous manqueriez la cabane Wandslebhütte située à 400 m. Cette montée demande aussi une bonne condition physique. Le chemin monte en continu par un sentier et des escaliers. Au bout de l'escalier, prenez à gauche pour rejoindre un chemin d'herbe plus large. Après 250 m, le chemin tourne brusquement à droite et, après une courte descente, monte raide jusqu'à la cabane Wandslebhütte déjà visible. Vous aurez ainsi gravi 50 mètres de dénivelé sur ces 400 mètres. Mais cet effort en vaut vraiment la peine. Une agréable place de repos vous attend en récompense avec une belle vue sur Leutenberg et les chaînes de collines entourant la localité vers le nord-ouest. La vue s'étend du Löhmberg et de la vallée Lemnitz au quartier Munschwitz/St. Jakob. À côté s'élève le Tannberg. Hier beeindruckt eine Vielzahl von Totholzbäumen, die den Weg säumen. Der Pfad führt an dem ehemaligen Schieferstollen vorüber, der nicht betreten werden darf. Nachdem die Stadt das erste Mal zu sehen ist, zeigt ein Wanderwegweiser linksabbiegend zum Cronebrunnen hinab, was die Wanderung verkürzen würde. Sie halten sich aber halbrechts, denn sonst verpassen Sie die 400 m entfernte Wandslebhütte. Auch dieser Anstieg erfordert Kondition. Über einen Pfad und Treppenstufen geht es immer höher. Am Ende der Treppe halten Sie sich links, um in einen breiteren Grasweg einzusteigen. Nach 250 m verläuft der Weg scharf rechts und nach einem kurzen Abstieg steil bergan zur bereits sichtbaren Wandslebhütte. So haben Sie auf diesem kurzen 400 Meter-Abschnitt immerhin 50 Höhenmeter bewältigt. Diese Anstrengung lohnt sich aber auf jeden Fall. Als Belohnung lockt ein lauschiges Plätzchen zum Rasten mit toller Aussicht über Leutenberg und die den Ort umgebenden Höhenzüge in nördwestlicher Richtung. Der Blick reicht über den Löhmberg und das Lemnitztal zum Ortsteil Munschwitz/St. Jakob. Daneben erhebt sich der Tannberg. Östlich vom Ilmtal thront auf dem Schlossberg die Friedensburg, der sich der Kirchberg anschließt. Bei dem nun folgenden Abstieg ist Trittsicherheit erforderlich. Dabei nutzen Sie einen Zickzackweg, der wieder in den Grasweg mündet, über den Sie zuvor gekommen sind und wandern wieder zum Abzweig Cronebrunnen. Auch der nun folgende Abstieg erfordert Trittsicherheit. Robert Crone machte sich als Bürgermeister um die Entwicklung seiner Heimatstadt verdient. Das Landschaftsbild um den Cronebrunnen wird durch einen imposanten urwaldähnlichen Baumbestand mit alten Weißtannen, Bergahorn, Fichten und Buchen bestimmt. Dabei handelt es sich um Relikte eines ursprünglichen „Herzynischen Bergmischwaldes“. Vom Cronebrunnen führt der Weg zum Eichendorffplatz, wo es sich ebenfalls gut verweilen lässt. Aus der Feder des Lyrikers Joseph Karl Benedikt Freiherr von Eichendorff entstammt 1823 der Text von „Der frohe Wandersmann“, einem der beliebtesten deutschen Wanderlieder. „Wem Gott will rechte Gunst erweisen, Den schickt er in die weite Welt; Dem wird er seine Wunder weisen In Berg und Tal und Strom und Feld. Bei der gemeinnützigen Naturschutzorganisation Save- Nature-Group handelt es sich um ein Netzwerk aus freiwilligen Helfern, die im Sinne der Natur leben und handeln. Die erst seit 2017 bestehende Organisation hat sich verdient gemacht um die Schaffung von Streuobstwiesen, die Revitaliserung des Ilmbaches und die Durchführung von Müllsammelaktionen. Die Save Nature Group betreibt zudem mit Naturhelfern aus aller Welt die Rodaberghütte. Ein schöner Naturlehrpfad führt zu einer neu angelegten Streuobstwiese. Auf der Streuobstwiese wurde ein geschützter Rastplatz mit einem begehbaren Gründach und herrlicher Aussicht angelegt. www.save-nature-group.de Auf der Gustav-Fehler-Höhe angekommen, lädt die gleichnamige Hütte zur Rast ein. Hier lässt es sich aber nicht nur gut rasten. Außerdem öffnet sich der Blick über die „Stadt der Sieben Täler“ hinweg zum Schloss Friedensburg. Die Gustav-Fehler-Hütte wurde 1884 vom Leutenberger Verschönerungsverein zu Ehren des Fürsten Georg Albert von Schwarzburg-Rudolstädter als Georgs Höhe errichtet. 1945 erhielt sie ihren heutigen Namen. Gustav Fehler war von 1920 bis 1932 Kommandant der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Leutenberg. Gemeinsam mit Ernst Pabst sorgte er dafür, dass sich seine Feuerwehr zu einer besten im damaligen Land Thüringen entwickelte. Unmittelbar hinter der Gustav-Fehler-Hütte beginnt der steile Abstieg über einem Pfad hinab ins Stadtgebiet von Leutenberg. Auch dieser Abstieg erfordert Trittsicherheit. Im Kalkgrubental kreuzen sich mehrere Wege. Hier besteht eine Möglichkeit abzukürzen, wenn Sie geradeaus über die Bahnschienen gehen, kommen Sie bereits nach 400 m direkt zum Marktplatz. Allerdings verpassen Sie dann einen schönen naturnahen Abschnitt des Urwaldpfades und außerdem das Naturpark-Haus. Von hier ist auch ein Abstecher zum 300 m entfernten Kinderbauernhof lohnenswert. Im August 2009 wurde der Leutenberger Kinderbauernhof im Grünen e.V. gegründet. Ziel einiger engagierter Personen war und ist es, wieder etwas Landleben in Leutenberg greifbar zu machen. Dazu gehört, sich wieder mehr mit Tieren zu beschäftigen. Das gilt nicht nur für Kinder. Ein weiteres Anliegen besteht darin, den Stadtmensch wieder mehr an die Natur heranzuführen. Gern gesehen ist hier jeder, der sich für Tiere und die Natur interessiert. Das erfordert einmal mehr Kondition. So erreichen Sie nach ca. 300 m den Standort des einstigen Kaiser-Friedrich-Turmes. Nun führt der wildromantische Pfad entlang des Schleifberges. An der Struktur des Waldes zeigt sich, dass hier schon lange die Axt ruht und sich allmählich ein Urwaldpfad herausbildet. Auf dem gut beschilderten Weg passieren Sie mehrere Weggabelungen mit Wanderwegweisern. Obwohl verschiedene Abkürzungen zum Markt angeboten werden, sollten Sie sich stets in Richtung Naturpark-Haus Leutenberg orientieren. Dadurch verpassen Sie nichts von diesem tollen Weg. In diesem Sinne laufen Sie zur 400 m entfernten Weggabelung. Ein Wanderwegweiser zeigt dort zum 1,2 km entfernten Naturpark-Haus. Der Urwaldpfad schlängelt sich linksabbiegend ins Tal hinab. Hält man sich rechts, erreicht man nach ca. 1 km mit dem Aussichtspunkt „Sieben-Täler-Blick“ ein weiteres attraktives Wanderziel um Leutenberg. Vor den Bahnschienen biegen Sie scharf rechts ein und laufen parallel zu diesen. Dabei wird rechterhand der Garkochteich passiert. Wenig später erreichen Sie das Gelände des Naturpark-Hauses Leutenberg. Das Naturpark-Haus beherbergt nicht nur die Verwaltung des Naturparks Thüringer Schiefergebirge/Obere Saale. Naturfreunde finden hier Ausstellungen zum Naturpark mit Terrarium und eine umfangreiche Sammlung glitzernder Mineralien. Die umfangreiche Geopark-Ausstellung „Abenteuer Erdgeschichte“ lässt die Besucher weit in die Vergangenheit eintauchen. Im Außenbereich der Einrichtung führen künstlerisch gestaltete NaturParkWelten durch eine abwechslungsreiche Bachlandschaft entlang des Sormitzweges. Zwei Kinderspielplätze erfreuen insbesondere die kleinen Besucher. Mitmachelemente vermitteln spielerisch den Kontakt zur Natur. Der Naturpark erstreckt sich auf einer Fläche von 830 Quadratkilometern. Er ist ein wichtiges Bindeglied der umliegenden Landschaften des Naturparks Frankenwald im Süden mit denen des Naturparks Thüringer Waldes im Westen. Gleich neben dem Parkplatz des Naturpark-Hauses befindet sich eine weitere Stele des Urwaldpfades Leutenberg, von wo die Wanderung ebenfalls begonnen werden kann.                                        Nun überqueren Sie die stark befahrene Straße und folgen einem Gehweg stadteinwärts. Nach 100 Metern entfernen Sie sich von der Bundesstraße und folgen einem Wegweiser in Richtung Marktplatz. Am ehemaligen Mühlgraben entlang gelangen Sie schließlich in das Zentrum der Kleinstadt Leutenberg mit ihrem Marktplatz. Dort folgen Sie der Hauptstraße, um anschließend links in die Straße namens „Am Ilmbach“ einzubiegen. Sie halten sich aber halbrechts, denn sonst verpassen Sie die 400 m entfernte Wandslebhütte. Auch dieser Anstieg erfordert <strong>Kondition</strong>.</p> <p>Über einen Pfad und Treppenstufen geht es immer höher. Am Ende der Treppe halten Sie sich links, um in einen breiteren Grasweg einzusteigen. Nach 250 m verläuft der Weg scharf rechts und nach einem kurzen Abstieg steil bergan zur bereits sichtbaren <strong>Wandslebhütte</strong>. So haben Sie auf diesem kurzen 400 Meter-Abschnitt immerhin 50 Höhenmeter bewältigt.</p> <p>Diese Anstrengung lohnt sich aber auf jeden Fall.</p> <p>Als Belohnung lockt ein lauschiges Plätzchen zum Rasten mit toller Aussicht über Leutenberg und die den Ort umgebenden Höhenzüge in nördwestlicher Richtung.</p> <p>Der Blick reicht über den Löhmberg und das Lemnitztal zum Ortsteil Munschwitz/St. Jakob. Daneben erhebt sich der Tannberg. Östlich vom Ilmtal thront auf dem Schlossberg die Friedensburg, der sich der Kirchberg anschließt.</p> <p>Bei dem nun folgenden Abstieg ist <strong>Trittsicherheit</strong> erforderlich. Dabei nutzen Sie einen Zickzackweg, der wieder in den Grasweg mündet, über den Sie zuvor gekommen sind und wandern wieder zum <strong>Abzweig Cronebrunnen</strong>.</p> <p>Auch der nun folgende Abstieg erfordert <strong>Trittsicherheit</strong>.</p> <p>Robert Crone machte sich als Bürgermeister um die Entwicklung seiner Heimatstadt verdient.</p> <p>Das Landschaftsbild um den Cronebrunnen wird durch einen imposanten urwaldähnlichen Baumbestand mit alten Weißtannen, Bergahorn, Fichten und Buchen bestimmt. Ein schöner Naturlehrpfad führt zu einer neu angelegten Streuobstwiese. Auf der Streuobstwiese wurde ein geschützter Rastplatz mit einem begehbaren Gründach und herrlicher Aussicht angelegt.</p> <p>www.save-nature-group.de</p> <p>Auf der <strong>Gustav-Fehler-Höhe</strong> angekommen, lädt die gleichnamige Hütte zur Rast ein.</p> <p>Hier lässt es sich aber nicht nur gut rasten. Außerdem öffnet sich der Blick über die „Stadt der Sieben Täler“ hinweg zum Schloss Friedensburg.</p> <p>Die Gustav-Fehler-Hütte wurde 1884 vom Leutenberger Verschönerungsverein zu Ehren des Fürsten Georg Albert von Schwarzburg-Rudolstädter als Georgs Höhe errichtet.</p> <p>1945 erhielt sie ihren heutigen Namen. Gustav Fehler war von 1920 bis 1932 Kommandant der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Leutenberg. Gemeinsam mit Ernst Pabst sorgte er dafür, dass sich seine Feuerwehr zu einer besten im damaligen Land Thüringen entwickelte.</p> <p>Unmittelbar hinter der Gustav-Fehler-Hütte beginnt der <strong>steile Abstieg</strong> über einem Pfad hinab ins Stadtgebiet von Leutenberg. Auch dieser Abstieg erfordert <strong>Trittsicherheit</strong>. Im <strong>Kalkgrubental</strong> kreuzen sich mehrere Wege.</p> <p>Hier besteht eine Möglichkeit abzukürzen, wenn Sie geradeaus über die Bahnschienen gehen, kommen Sie bereits nach 400 m direkt zum Marktplatz. Allerdings verpassen Sie dann einen schönen naturnahen Abschnitt des Urwaldpfades und außerdem das Naturpark-Haus.</p> <p>Von hier ist auch ein Abstecher zum 300 m entfernten <strong>Kinderbauernhof</strong> lohnenswert.</p> <p>Im August 2009 wurde der Leutenberger Kinderbauernhof im Grünen e.V. gegründet. Ziel einiger engagierter Personen war und ist es, wieder etwas Landleben in Leutenberg greifbar zu machen. Dazu gehört, sich wieder mehr mit Tieren zu beschäftigen. Das gilt nicht nur für Kinder. Ein weiteres Anliegen besteht darin, den Stadtmensch wieder mehr an die Natur heranzuführen. So erreichen Sie nach ca. 300 m den Standort des <strong>einstigen Kaiser-Friedrich-Turmes</strong>.</p> <p>Nun führt der wildromantische Pfad entlang des <strong>Schleifberges</strong>.</p> <p>An der Struktur des Waldes zeigt sich, dass hier schon lange die Axt ruht und sich allmählich ein Urwaldpfad herausbildet.</p> <p>Auf dem gut beschilderten Weg passieren Sie mehrere Weggabelungen mit Wanderwegweisern. Obwohl verschiedene Abkürzungen zum Markt angeboten werden, sollten Sie sich stets in Richtung <strong>Naturpark-Haus Leutenberg</strong> orientieren. Dadurch verpassen Sie nichts von diesem tollen Weg.</p> <p>In diesem Sinne laufen Sie zur 400 m entfernten Weggabelung. Ein Wanderwegweiser zeigt dort zum 1,2 km entfernten Naturpark-Haus. Mais vous prenez le chemin à moitié à droite, sinon vous manqueriez la <strong>cabane Wandslebhütte</strong> située à 400 m. Cette montée demande aussi une bonne <strong>condition physique</strong>.</p> <p>Le chemin monte en continu par un sentier et des escaliers. Au bout de l'escalier, prenez à gauche pour rejoindre un chemin d'herbe plus large. Après 250 m, le chemin tourne brusquement à droite et, après une courte descente, monte raide jusqu'à la <strong>cabane Wandslebhütte</strong> déjà visible. Vous aurez ainsi gravi 50 mètres de dénivelé sur ces 400 mètres.</p> <p>Mais cet effort en vaut vraiment la peine.</p> <p>Une agréable place de repos vous attend en récompense avec une belle vue sur Leutenberg et les chaînes de collines entourant la localité vers le nord-ouest.</p> <p>La vue s'étend du Löhmberg et de la vallée Lemnitz au quartier Munschwitz/St. Jakob. À côté s'élève le Tannberg. À l'est de la vallée Ilmtal, sur le Schlossberg, trône la Friedensburg à laquelle s'adosse le Kirchberg.</p> <p>La descente qui suit nécessite une <strong>bonne assurance</strong>. Gustav Fehler fut de 1920 à 1932 le commandant des pompiers volontaires de Leutenberg. Avec Ernst Pabst, il fit de cette brigade une des meilleures du Land de Thuringe à cette époque.</p> <p>Juste derrière la cabane se trouve un <strong>sentier raide</strong> qui descend vers la ville de Leutenberg. Plusieurs chemins se croisent dans la <strong>vallée Kalkgrubental</strong>.</p> <p>Il est possible ici de raccourcir : si vous traversez tout droit les voies du chemin de fer, vous atteindrez déjà après 400 m la place du marché. Même si plusieurs raccourcis vers le marché sont indiqués, il est conseillé de toujours suivre la direction du <strong>Naturpark-Haus Leutenberg</strong> pour ne rien manquer de ce merveilleux chemin.</p> <p>Ainsi, vous vous dirigez vers une bifurcation située à 400 m, où un panneau indique la maison du parc naturel à 1,2 km. De nouveau sur la B 90, vous passez un rond-point, traversez encore une fois le pont Sormitz et revenez au point de départ à la <strong>gare de Leutenberg</strong>.</p>

However, you keep slightly right so as not to miss the Wandslebhütte 400 m away. This ascent also requires <strong>stamina</strong>.</p> <p>You continue uphill via a path and steps. At the end of the stairs, keep left to enter a wider grassy path. After 250 m, the path turns sharply right and after a short descent, steeply uphill to the already visible <strong>Wandslebhütte</strong>. On this short 400-meter section, you climb about 50 meters in elevation.</p> <p>The effort is definitely worth it.</p> <p>As a reward, there is a cozy spot to rest with a great view over Leutenberg and the surrounding ridges to the northwest.</p> <p>The view extends over Löhmberg and the Lemnitztal to the district of Munschwitz/St. Jakob. Next to it rises the Tannberg. East of the Ilmtal, the Friedensburg castle towers on Schlossberg, to which Kirchberg is connected.</p> <p>The following descent requires <strong>surefootedness</strong>. You use a zigzag path that leads back onto the grassy path you came on and hike back to the <strong>Cronebrunnen junction</strong>.</p> <p>The next descent also requires <strong>surefootedness</strong>.</p> <p>Robert Crone distinguished himself as mayor in the development of his hometown.</p> <p>The landscape around the Cronebrunnen is characterized by an impressive primeval forest-like stand of old silver firs, sycamore maples, spruces, and beeches. A beautiful nature educational trail leads to a newly established orchard. On the orchard, a protected resting place with a walkable green roof and wonderful view has been created.</p> <p>www.save-nature-group.de</p> <p>Upon reaching the <strong>Gustav-Fehler-Höhe</strong>, the eponymous hut invites you to rest.</p> <p>Here you can not only enjoy a break but also a view over the “city of seven valleys” towards Friedensburg Castle.</p> <p>The Gustav-Fehler-Hütte was built in 1884 by the Leutenberg beautification club in honor of Prince Georg Albert of Schwarzburg-Rudolstädter as Georgs Höhe.</p> <p>In 1945 it received its current name. Gustav Fehler was commander of the Leutenberg volunteer fire brigade from 1920 to 1932. Together with Ernst Pabst, he ensured that his fire brigade became one of the best in the then Thuringia region.</p> <p>Immediately behind the Gustav-Fehler-Hütte begins the <strong>steep descent</strong> down a path into the urban area of Leutenberg. This descent also requires <strong>surefootedness</strong>. In the <strong>Kalkgrubental</strong> several paths intersect.</p> <p>There is a shortcut option here: if you go straight across the railway tracks, you will reach the market square after 400 m. However, this means missing a beautiful natural section of the Urwaldpfad as well as the Naturpark-Haus.</p> <p>A detour to the <strong>children’s farm</strong>, 300 m away, is also worthwhile from here.</p> <p>Founded in August 2009, the Leutenberg Children’s Farm in the Green association aims to make rural life tangible again in Leutenberg. This includes working more with animals, not just for children. Another goal is to bring city people closer to nature again. This requires <strong>stamina</strong> once again. After about 300 m, you reach the site of the <strong>former Kaiser-Friedrich-Tower</strong>.</p> <p>The wild romantic path now leads along the <strong>Schleifberg</strong>.</p> <p>The structure of the forest shows that the axe has long rested here, and a primeval forest path is gradually developing.</p> <p>On the well-marked trail, you pass several junctions with hiking signs. Though several shortcuts to the market are offered, you should always orient yourself towards the <strong>Naturpark-Haus Leutenberg</strong>. That way, you won’t miss anything on this fantastic trail.</p> <p>Following this, you walk to the junction 400 m away. A hiking sign points to the Naturpark-Haus, 1.2 km away. The Urwaldpfad snakes left downhill into the valley.</p> <p>If you keep right, after about 1 km you reach the “Seven Valleys Viewpoint”, another attractive hiking destination around Leutenberg.</p> <p>Before the railway tracks, turn sharply right and walk parallel to them. On the right, you pass the <strong>Garkochteich</strong> pond. Shortly after, you reach the grounds of the <strong>Naturpark-Haus Leutenberg</strong>.</p> <p>The Naturpark-Haus not only houses the administration of the Thuringian Slate Mountains/Upper Saale Nature Park. Nature lovers will find exhibitions on the nature park with a terrarium and an extensive collection of sparkling minerals. The comprehensive geopark exhibition “Adventure Earth History” lets visitors dive far into the past.</p> <p>Outside the facility, artistically designed NatureParkWorlds lead you through a varied stream landscape along the Sormitz path. Two playgrounds delight the youngest visitors in particular. Interactive elements playfully convey contact with nature.</p> <p>The nature park covers an area of 830 square kilometers. It serves as an important link between the surrounding landscapes of the Frankenwald Nature Park in the south and the Thuringian Forest Nature Park in the west. Besides the Rennsteig trail, the European long-distance path E3 (EB) and the “Green Belt” along the former inner-German border connect both regions. After 100 meters, you leave the federal road and follow a signpost towards the market square. Along the former <strong>Mühlgraben</strong>, you finally reach the center of the small town <strong>Leutenberg</strong> with its market square.</p> <p>There, follow the main street, then turn left into the street called “Am Ilmbach”. You pass a roundabout again on B90, cross the Sormitz bridge again, and return to the starting point at <strong>Leutenberg train station</strong>.</p>
