Das im sogenannten Herrenhaus des Großen Hospitals untergebrachte Museum für Thüringer Volkskunde zählt zu den größten Volkskundemuseen Deutschlands. Hervorzuheben sind die reichen Exponate zur ländlichen Sachkultur: Möbel, Hausrat, Arbeitsgeräte, Textilien, Glas, Keramik, Schmuck, religiöse Gegenstände und Objekte der Volkskunst. Das Kernstück bildet die Exposition "Erfahren-verändern-beharren. Dorfleben im 19. Jahrhundert" mit dem dazugehörigen "Jahrhundertschrank". Eine weitere Besucherattraktion ist ein im Gewölbekeller eingerichtetes Schaudepot für Keramik.

Housed in the so-called manor house of the Great Hospital, the Museum of Thuringian Folklore is one of the largest folklore museums in Germany. The rich exhibits on rural material culture are particularly noteworthy: furniture, household items, tools, textiles, glass, ceramics, jewelry, religious objects and objects of folk art. The centerpiece is the exhibit "Experience-Change-Persist. Village life in the 19th century" with the accompanying "century cabinet". Another visitor attraction is a display depot for ceramics set up in the vaulted cellar.

Le musée des arts et traditions populaires de Thuringe, installé dans la maison de maître du Grand Hôpital, est l'un des plus grands musées d'arts et traditions populaires d'Allemagne. Il faut souligner la richesse des objets exposés sur la culture matérielle rurale : meubles, ustensiles de ménage, outils de travail, textiles, verre, céramique, bijoux, objets religieux et objets d'art populaire. La pièce maîtresse est l'exposition "Erfahren-veränder-beharren. La vie au village au 19e siècle" avec l'"armoire du siècle" correspondante. Une autre attraction pour les visiteurs est un dépôt de démonstration de céramique aménagé dans la cave voûtée.
