Scheibe-Alsbach, aujourd'hui un quartier de Neuhaus am Rennweg, est la porte d'entrée de la vallée sauvage et romantique de Schwarzatal. À une altitude de 717 m, la Schwarza prend sa source dans l'une des crevasses les plus profondes d'Europe. Les colons germaniques ont baptisé l'eau "Suarzaha", qui apparaît sombre en raison des débris d'ardoise et des ombres sur les rives de la vallée rocheuse. Le village s'étend vers le sud sur 1,5 km jusqu'au sentier Rennsteig qui mène à Limbach. De vastes forêts d'épicéas entourent le village dans une cuvette douce, presque en forme de disque, traversée par la Schwarza. Cette apparence a certainement contribué à donner son nom au village. Le réservoir de Schwarza, situé près du village, entouré d'une forêt dense et désigné en 1997 comme le réservoir d'eau potable le plus propre d'Allemagne, respire la paix et invite à s'attarder.

Scheibe-Alsbach, today a district of Neuhaus am Rennweg, is the gateway to the wild and romantic Schwarzatal. At an altitude of 717 m, the Schwarza rises in one of the deepest crevice springs in Europe. Germanic settlers christened the water "Suarzaha", which appears dark due to the slate rubble and the shadows on the banks of the rocky valley. The village extends southwards for 1.5 km to the Rennsteig to Limbach. Extensive spruce forests surround the village in a gentle, almost disc-shaped valley basin through which the Schwarza flows. This appearance has certainly contributed to the name of the village. The Schwarza reservoir near the village, surrounded by dense forest, which was awarded the title of the cleanest drinking water reservoir in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1997, radiates peace and invites you to linger.

Scheibe-Alsbach, heute Ortsteil von Neuhaus am Rennweg, ist das Tor zum wildromantischen Schwarzatal. In 717 m Höhe entspringt die Schwarza in einer der tiefsten Spaltenquellen Europas. Germanische Siedler tauften das durch Schiefergeröll und Uferbeschattung der felsigen Talenge dunkel scheinende Wasser "Suarzaha". Der Ort erstreckt sich südwärts auf 1,5 km Länge bis zum Rennsteig nach Limbach. Weitreichende Fichtenwälder umschließen den Ort in einem sanften, fast scheibenförmigen Talkessel, den die Schwarza durchfließt. Dieses Erscheinungsbild hat sicher zum Ortsnamen beigetragen. Der nahe des Ortes gelegene, von dichtem Wald umgebene Schwarzastausee, der 1997 als sauberstes Trinkwasserreservoir der Bundesrepublik ausgezeichnet wurde, strahlt Ruhe aus und lädt zum Verweilen ein.
