A special feature of the church consecrated to the Apostle Andrew in the Dorfanger is the position of the nave in relation to the tower. In most churches it is common that the steeple is the western end of the building and the nave is on the eastern side. But not so in Kammerforst at the northern edge of the Hainich. The nave, which originally really was on the eastern side, was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. In 1687 the parish rebuilt the part of the building, but on the west side. The ceiling barrel shows numerous baroque paintings and depictions of apostles, which go back to the chamber forest painter Adolf Rettelbusch. In front of the church there is a boulder as a memorial stone for him. The patronage boxes bear the heraldic depictions of the church patron saints of Seebach and Eschwege.
